A List of Questions
I go back and forth on how project-oriented and personal and vulnerable I want to be on this blog. Well, I go back and forth on whether I want to keep this blog at all. Often, I jot down ideas and thoughts as the basis for new blog posts, but then I wait on them (so that I can carefully examine my thoughts, which means more going back and forth 🫠), and over time, I lose the excitement to share them.
A trick I've learned is to just do stuff and move on to the next thing. So here's an attempt at that.
Over the last week, I’ve spent some time reflecting on my journey thus far and my evolving interests. I may want to shift my focus from exploring vegan community-building to the connections between (plant-based) eating habits and well-being. For now, I’ll keep my explorations on the individual level, though in the long run, I think working on influencing practices in the food & beverage industry or institutions, whether public or private, would be more exciting than working with individuals to achieve their desired health outcomes. I gotta start somewhere though, right?
Here are some questions I've come up with that I'd like to ask people I meet:
- How satisfied are you with your current eating habits?
- What are the primary factors that shape what, when, and how you eat?
- Who prepares most of your food?
- How often do you eat out versus cooking at home?
- If you cook, what cooking methods (e.g. steaming, boiling, simmering, pan-frying, deep-frying, baking, sautéing) do you most frequently use?
- How much variety do you have in your meals, and do you enjoy trying new foods or recipes?
- What foods make you feel your best, and which make you feel sluggish or unwell?
- Does your diet feel nourishing to you? How nourishing?
- If so, what makes it nourishing?
- If not, would you like to have a more nourishing diet? What eating habits would you like to practice more regularly?
- What’s the biggest challenge you face with your diet or cooking?
- Do you pay attention to the nutritional content of your meals? If so, what do you focus on? (e.g., macronutrients like protein, carbs, fats or micronutrients like specific minerals and vitamins?)
What do you think about these questions? I’m excited to see where this takes me, and I hope they spark something for you, too. If any of these questions resonate and/or if you have constructive feedback, I'd love to hear your thoughts or experiences—drop a comment or reach out! 😊
